Longer, Fuller, Darker Eyelashes

Prominent eyelashes help to frame our eyes and have a significant impact on a first impression. Eyes framed by dark, long lashes appear bigger and brighter, and are typically considered more attractive – there’s a reason so many people use mascara to make their eyelashes appear fuller than they actually are. The downside is that mascara can run, smear, and clump. With Latisse, there’s a solution without those drawbacks, because rather than making your lashes appear longer and fuller, it actually stimulates eyelash growth for darker, more noticeable lashes.

Latisse is the only product with FDA approval to stimulate eyelash growth, and is not available over the counter. At Sinclair Plastic Surgery, we are able to prescribe Latisse, instruct our patients, and monitor its use and effectiveness.

Causes of thinning eyelashes

Both men and women experience thinning eyelashes for a variety of reasons, and could potentially be good candidates for Latisse treatment.

Thinning eyelashes may be the result of one of these common causes:

  • Aging
  • Rubbing eyes excessively
  • Misusing makeup
  • Some medical conditions or treatments

Application and Procedure

Latisse is a liquid that is applied to the upper eyelid lash line once a day, usually before bed. The process is similar to applying eyeliner, and is performed with a single-use disposable applicator; repeated use of a single applicator can result in an infection or allergic reaction. It should be applied only to the upper lid, as it will naturally be transferred to the lower lid through the process of blinking. Always follow Dr. Sinclair’s directions exactly when applying Latisse.

Our patients typically report seeing an increase in eyelash length, volume, and darkness within 4-8 weeks, with final results achieved around 16 weeks. At this point, it is possible to reduce the application to 2-3 times a week, rather than daily. If you cease applying Latisse, your eyelashes will gradually return to their previous condition.
